What I was supposed to do What I got done

Christmas Decoration Project


 1. Create five thumbnails for each business card.

 2. Create a new page for each business card within one document.

 3. The document size will be 2 x 3.5.

 4. Set the margins to 0.125.

 5. If you are using a bleed, create a 0.125 bleed.

 6. When you complete all of your business cards you will put your final card on a 10up or up press sheet.




Notepad Project


 1. Create five thumbnails for each notepad before you begin working on the computer.

 2. Create a new document for each notepad design.

 3. Create a new document for each of your press sheets.

 4. One notepad design will be 5.5” x 8.5” with 1/4” margins, 2up on the press sheet.

 5. One notepad design will be 4.25” x 5.5” with 1/4” margins, 4up on the press sheet.

 6. For ease of production keep all notepads portrait.

7. One of the notepads must contain lines to write on, spaced evenly with the step and repeat function.

8. Keep all lines, text, and images within your margins.

9. Save your InDesign and PDF files as “bkga#_lastname_notepad” (1, 2 or press sheet)


Printshop Map Project


 1. From your notes, create a map of the printshop using InDesign.

 2. Your document should be landscape with a width of 11” and the height of 17”.

 3. Set the margins to 0.25”.

 4. Using your basic shapes, type tool, stroke, fill, and swatches; create, label, and color code each
machine or piece of equipment according to the guidelines below. You may use pictures and place
them within the shapes.

 5. Feel free to use a font of your choice, as long as it’s readable.

 6. You may also (but are not required to) use different stroke types and corner options to change the edges of each shape.

7. Include a key or legend for all of the tools and equipment in the printshop.


Greeting Card Project


 1. Create three thumbnails for the outside of your greeting card and three thumbnails for the inside of your greeting card.

 2. Once they are approved by your teacher you may begin working on the computer.

 3. Document Setup: 10” (w) x 7” (h)

 4. # of pages: 2 (Un-check Facing Pages)

 5. Margins: 1/4”

 6. Bleed: 1/8”

7. 2 Columns with a 1/2” gutter.

8. The finished card and file are due at the end of class on ____________________________________

9. Staple your card to this sheet and hand it in. Also, hand in your digital PDF file to the project folder.



Calendar Project


 1. Create an 8.5 x 11 document, landscape orientation.

 2. Make your margins 0.25 inches on all sides.

 3. Uncheck facing pages.

 4. Open the ‘Pages’ tab and double click on the A-Master page.

 5. Create a text box from the top left margin to the bottom right margin.

 6. Go to ‘Table’ then ‘Insert Table’. Change Body Rows and Columns to 7.

7. Highlight the top row of cells, right-click, merge cells. Change the height to 0.8125 inches.

8. Add the word ‘Month’ centered vertically and horizontally.

9. Highlight the second row of cells and change the height to 0.3125 inches.

10. Type out each day, starting with Sunday, within these cell columns.

11. Highlight the lower 5 rows and set their height to 1.3125 inches.

12. Next, make two new pages, right-click each, “Override All Master Page Items”, then delete the tables.

13. These will be used for your Cover image and your January image.

14. Next make a new page for your January calendar, “Override All Master Page Items”, and modify the month name and add numbers for the days of the week.

15. Use an attractive color scheme for each month and professional fonts throughout the calendar.

16. Use original high-resolution pictures for each month. No images from the internet.

17. Add important events and holidays throughout the calendar.

18. Save your file as: “bkga000_lastname_calendar”

19. Save your InDesign file to your BKGA folder.

20. Export your file to a Print PDF, save it to your BKGA folder and UPLOAD THE PDF TO CLASSROOM. If you don’t know where to hand it in ask for help.

21. Print your finished calendar on 80lb. cover stock from the large capacity on the color 5100.
